1. List the forms of entertainment that are competing with mainstream television channels for the audience’s attention. What this means is...compare BBC, ITV, C5, Sky TV schedules with one another. What is on at the same time and the same date? What programmes are competing with one another. Mainstream television channels show many different types of entertainment such as: news, reality, game shows, light entertainment and different genres of tv programs. On Saturday night at 7:05, Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC 1; and on ITV at 7:05, The X Factor is on. Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor compete with each other because they are both light entertainment programs which people can listen to in the background and not have to worry about missing anything important. They are on Saturday night because it is the most popular night in the week to watch TV.
